Friday, 01

Sent invoice for July work. Worked on the five scripts that I’ve been getting ready for recording. I replaced he one that I didn’t really like with a different one that I had on my list and had done a rough draft of weeks ago.

Saturday, 02

Worked on scripts. They’re all ready for recording tomorrow.

Sunday, 03

I recorded all five of the scripts for the videos of the coming week. What wonderful timing! I finished the fifth recording, and in less than a minute, the call to prayer started. I couldn’t have planned the timing any better. Then I edited, made the thumbnail, uploaded, and published the video for Monday.

Also, had time to watch some art tutorials. So happy now that I’ve got the YT process down pat so that I also have time for watching art tutorials and painting.

Monday, 04

I edited, uploaded, and scheduled videos for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Watched some art tutorials and worked a little on an abstract dog painting I started last week.

Tuesday, 05

I worked on several videos. What I’ve been doing is taking material that I’d written in the past for other purposes and then expanded/rewritten for my YT videos. I use ChatGPT to help when I’ve got sentences or paragraphs that I just can’t get right. I’m also taking some videos from my main channel kategypsy and moving them to my new channel kateswanderingthoughts.

I’ve been watching another YTer that I really like a lot. She’s sarcastic and snarky, and I think that tone is getting her a lot of views. So I’m taking my upcoming scripts and snarking them up.

Thursday, 07

I went to town today to take some photos of graffiti. I know that most people don’t like it, but I really do, so I decided to make a video about graffiti. Got lots of great photos. And I wanted a photo of me standing in front of some graffiti to use as the thumbnail.

And I needed a photo of me as a passenger in a becak (similar to rickshaw but it’s a 3-wheeled cycle with the driver behind the place for passengers). I’m doing a video about this type of transportation which I used to love but is being phased out now. Anyhow, I wanted a photo of me as a passenger to use as a thumbnail.

Friday, 08

I did major revisions on all five scripts and then it was off to the dentist. There is one tooth upper right that got fixed today. On Monday, a tooth on upper left will be fixed. Once those are fixed, the denture can be made to fill in the space where the bridge used to be.

Saturday, 09

It was a very good week – lots of views on my videos and got lots ready for the next week. Today, I made final revisions on videos for Mon, Tues, Wed and then recorded them before a new friend came for lunch. Wow – not just a good week – a good day as well.

Sunday, 10

Had a nice long visit with Susi. Then edited, uploaded, and scheduled videos for Mon and Tues.

Monday, 11

Another painfree dental appointment. The tooth Drg Naufel fixed today was less of a problem and he wanted to try without any pain med injections. I put a stop to that right away. I explained to him how low my tolerance is for pain. He accepted immediately and went to work.

So now the teeth needed to be anchors for a denture are fixed and beautiful. This coming Friday will be the appointment to discuss making the denture with the denture specialist. I have to admit that I’m really happy to be getting my teeth in shape. After I get the denture, I’ll take a break for a couple of months and then I’ll have the work done on the bottom teeth that need to have fillings replaced and broken teeth re-built.

Tuesday, 12

I edited, uploaded, and scheduled Wednesday’s video. Then I worked on scripts for the rest of the week and came up with ideas and very rough drafts for next week’s scripts.

Wednesday, 13

Thanks, Sue, for watching and commenting on videos on my Kate’s Wandering Thoughts channel. Glad you liked the one about my disdain of what older women shouldn’t do. My next one on that channel is Friday and is about my disdain of the popular idea of decluttering.

I’m doing a video about graffiti for my main channel. Today I went out and spent about a little over an hour taking photos of graffiti in Yogya. I got 20 today and 20 a few days ago. So now I have plenty to pick from. Got back home and recorded the script for the graffiti video and the no-decluttering video for my 2nd channel.

Thursday, 14

Edited, uploaded, and scheduled a video for my 2nd channel on Friday. Then, I opened the recording for my main channel in my editing program and found that the recording wasn’t right. It was like I was behind a thin curtain. The audio was find, but the visual wasn’t. So I’ll re-record it – maybe tomorrow for scheduling on Saturday.

Then I worked on several other scripts.

Friday, 15

Got an idea for a video last night as I was falling asleep. Fortunately, my recorder was right by my side so I made a note. Then today, I did a rough draft of it. I think it’s good, but you just never know which video is going to be popular and which ones won’t. When I did a video about the number of living languages in Indonesia, I thought people would find it boring, but as of this moment, it has almost 30,000 views. I would never have thought it. And the one I did about the orangutans in Borneo – I thought it would be popular, but as of this moment, it has only 800 views. Crazy. You just never know.

And then it was off to the dentist. He took impressions to make the denture. He’ll send the impressions off to the lab and the denture should be ready in two weeks.

Saturday, 16

It’s been a good week. Views are increasing all the time. And the ad money that I’m getting from YT is also increasing – and you know that makes me very happy.

Sunday, 17

Today is Indonesia Independence Day – 80 years. I did a very short video wishing all my Indonesian viewers a happy independence day.

Then I worked on scripts. Whenever I think I’ve come to the end of my ideas for my Indonesian channel, somehow I did deep into my brain and find more stuff. Thank goodness I have NOT decluttered my brain.

I edited 3 videos for Tuesday for my 2nd channel and made the thumbnails for each one. Yes, I’ll be scheduling 3 videos for the same time on Tuesday my time (Monday US time). I watched a YT guru who suggested that small channels just trying to get growing should make a video wall. What he means is to publish 3 videos at once. He thinks it has helped a few people, so I decided to give it a try to see if it helps my new channel get some subscribers and views.

Monday, 18

I schedule Tuesday’s video for my 2nd channel and then worked on scripts for both channels. I decided not to schedule 3 at a time for the video wall one YT guru suggested. I think he was giving that advice for channels that were further along, so I’ll keep it in mind for when my 2nd channel is in a better position.

Then I worked on scripts for both channels.

Tuesday, 19

I worked on several new scripts. I’m so happy I found a site called seasia dot co which gives all kinds of info on SE Asian countries. What a wonderful treasure! I had looked at them several months ago and made some videos from the inspiration I got, but I hadn’t thought of going back to see more recent info. So I’m really happy about that.

I edited, uploaded, and scheduled videos for Thursday and Friday. I’ve decided to change the number of videos on @kategypsy from three to two. I’ll see whether I keep my views up or not. It seems that a lot of successful YouTubers publish two per week. I did three each week for a few months in order to gain views, but maybe two is enough.

Wednesday, 20

I had planned for today to be a painting day, but I started working on scripts and research for them – and before I knew it, the day was gone. I’m not complaining – just reporting.

Thursday, 21

To town today to run errands.

Friday, 22

I kept thinking it was Saturday and then I needed to get scripts in final form. How happy I was to find it it was Friday. And Saturday 7am, I have an interview with a YT called Tea Transitions. They’re pretty new so I don’t think it’s going to help me market my channels, but who knows?

I did second or maybe third drafts of three scripts for next week. Hopefully, I’ll record all three after my interview.

Saturday, 23

Another good week on schedule with my YT channels. My problem has always been lack of consistency, but I’m sticking with YT. Sept 10 will be the date I published my first video, and I’ve now got 103 videos published on my first channel.

Today, I started off with an interview by Tea Transitions and then did final revisions and recorded 3 videos for the coming week. Also did some research for topics later in September.

Sunday, 24

I edited, uploaded, and scheduled the remaining three videos for the coming week. So videos for the whole week will go live at the appointed time without me doing anything more. It feels great to have that all done. So now, I’ve got a whole week to work on videos for the following week – no pressure. It looks like I’ll go over $200 for August. I had $87 in July, so I’ll get $300 Sept 21. I realize that’s not a lot when you take into consideration all the time I’ve put into YT, but what’s important is that I can see real progress. And now, if I could get my 2nd channel to take off, I’d make some serious money. Remember that the ad money I get for my 1st channel is far less than if I had the same number of subscribers and they were Westerners instead of Indonesians. But Indonesians leave me really wonderful comments – they absolutely love me – and I love that.

Monday, 25

I love being able to do whatever strikes my fancy each day. I make plans and then wake up in the morning and feel like doing something different. And that works for me. So today, my mood told me to get busy moving content from one website to another using redirects. ChatGPT – I love you. There were a lot of steps that I wouldn’t have known to do, but I let ChatGPT lead the way. It was a lot of work, but very satisfying that I managed to do it instead of hiring someone from Fiverr.

Then, I somehow found the energy to highlight my hair. Of course, my housekeeper uses a crochet hook to pull hair through the holes in the highlighting cap. Then all I have to do is combine the chemicals, put them on my hair, wait, wash, and blow dry. Done.

Tuesday, 26

I spent most of the day taking care of the dog site that I moved content to. I had to go through and clean up the things in the posts that didn’t transfer right. And this was a new site so I still have to  get it set up properly – like making an About page, making a menu that fits the content, and more. My goal is to get some sales for Christmas. Also did some housekeeping on other websites and domains the are not yet websites.

In the past, I’ve enjoyed building websites, but didn’t like looking at all the statistics about the traffic, so I’ve never bothered with Google Analytics, but I decided that if I want to actually get traffic, I need to see all the stats in the background. So I got that all set up on my dog site and on two other sites. I’m so happy that I bought recent courses from Erica Stone because I can do all this by following her steps instead of having to search google for help. She really lays everything out step by step. Some screens have changed, but the concept is still the same.

Wednesday, 27

I finished most of the bits and pieces on my three websites. Then I applied at Google Adsense for my dog site. I already have Adsense for YouTube, so it was just a matter of adding a website. It’s in review process now.

I’m giving my old laptop to a friend in Jakarta, so I’ve had to spend time going through programs that take up space but Rudy won’t need. It’s close to being done, but that was a pain in the butt.

Thursday, 28

Well, I got scripts for next week’s four videos in order. I may do more revisions tomorrow, but if not, that’s ok. They’re good enough to be recorded as is. I hope to record on Saturday.

Friday, 29

I made some excellent revisions on the four scripts for next week’s four videos. I plan to record them tomorrow. We all know about the best laid plans, but I hope to get them all recorded tomorrow and then on Sunday all edited, uploaded to YT, and scheduled. Here’s hoping.

And I managed to write two rough drafts for the week after next.

Saturday, 30

What a great work! I’m  so happy to get three websites better organized. But then, last night was terrible, and I’m really useless without a good night’s sleep. So I wasn’t ready to record, so I left that until Sunday. And there was another reason as well – I decided that I wanted to move one of the scripts for next week to the week after because I thought of something else I want to do next week, so I need to get that ready to record.

Basically, I’m revising a script that did very well on my main channel several months ago so that I can use it on my 2nd channel. The two channels have a different focus, but I’ve found that I can use some of the older scripts for the new channel – as long as I do enough revision so that it’s not duplicate content.

So I got that script ready and then spent time reading the other three scripts out loud. Doing that really points out things that I need to change. So now, all four scripts are ready to be recorded – tomorrow hopefully. Hope I get some good sleep tonight.

Sunday, 31

Crazy things. I first used a mobile teleprompter called Teleprompter Pro – even paid for it. But it didn’t operate smoothly. What I mean is that the scrolling text got stuck a lot. So I googled and found that PromptSmart Pro was supposedly better. So I bought it, tried it, and it was definitely better. I’ve been using PromptSmart ever since, but lately I’ve had a few problems, and this morning, I couldn’t even load my scripts. So I googled again for the best iPhone teleprompter and guess what showed up – Teleprompter Pro. That made me wonder and I decided to give it a try. It has obviously had some upgrades and is now far better than PromptSmart. So I started the morning with the feeling that I was in deep trouble but am now glad that PromptSmart wasn’t working right because I’ve now got a better option – at least temporarily.
